Internal Service Excellence: A Manager's Guide to Building World-Class Internal Service Unit Performance
Published in Hardcover by Summit Executive Pr (01 October, 1996)
Author: Richard D. Hays
Average review score:

MAKES YOU GO HMMM
This is an excellent book that makes you think about internal service units and the benefits for any organisation. It cuts right ot the bone and identifies the problems a lot of busineses are experiencing that result in poor CRM. While this book is technically brilliant and practical, it lacks up to date stats and case studies (book was written in 1996 and quotes stats from 1993). Given the large number of internal service units in most companies, there must be tons of case studies and more up to date stats on strutures, models and cost savings.

Keys to real problems, based on real experience
Being "customer-oriented" has led many organizations to achieve remarkable -- even incredible -- improvements. The customer's role and identity, clearly defined in the market place, are blurred when the organization serves other units within the same company or agency. Richard Hays addesses the problems of internal service units whose "customers" may also be the service unit's suppliers, who may be subsidiary to the service unit, or who may be several steps removed from the service unit's work output. Dr. Hays has the theoretical background to help a manager identify problems and define possible solutions, and he has the practical experience to help a manager tell which solutions sound fine and which ones will really work. Any manager who wants excellence throughout his or her organization, and not just in those units where problems and solutions are obvious, will read this book.

Lifelong Fitness: How to Look Great at Any Age
Published in Paperback by Warner Books (December, 1993)
Authors: Bob Delmonteque and Scott Hays
Average review score:

This book re-invents our idea of aging.
This book represents a paradigm shift in the understanding of what human aging is. It contains the most amazing photos of a seventy-plus year old man I have ever seen. Few twenty-year-olds will ever have a lean muscular body like this, yet Bob DelMonteque tells all of us how we can enjoy having a body twenty, thirty, forty, fifty or more years younger that our contemporaries.

I recently saw Mr. DelMonteque on the very last episode of the TV show American Journal. Mr DelMonteque is now pushing eighty or more and still has the same body that is shown in the photos of this remarkable book. He offers us something that is the closest thing imaginable to the fountain of youth that is availible to almost everyone.

While his regime does push one too close to over-training, in my opinion, the basic ideas are all there. One only has to flip through the eye-popping photographs of this amazing man to understand that humanity's idea of aging will someday change forever.

I need a copy! Where can I find it?
Excellent! Found a copy at a neighboring county library, but can't get a copy of my own. This is a must read!

Light on the Subject: Stage Lighting for Directors and Actors and the Rest of Us
Published in Paperback by Limelight Editions (June, 1998)
Authors: David Hays and Peter Brook
Average review score:

Great Primer for Non Lighting Designers
This is an excellent introduction to the world of Lighting Design for the non designer. It is an enjoyable quick read as well. Its a great way for someone in the theatre to understand what Lighting Designers and technicians auctually do.

Great for students and professionals alike!!
As a theatre lighting proffesional I found this book to be very enjoyable and the antidotes were lively and easily related to. A general good book with very little technical jargon and stories that you'll tell to a hysterically laughing crew at cue to cue's!!! A must for designers and the rest of the industry!

Modern Classics (Book 1)
Published in Paperback by William Morrow (22 October, 2002)
Author: Donna Hay

Picture Perfect
This is a cookbook that makes your mouth water. It is an ideal gift, and a book to treasure. Many interesting approaches to classic dishes, lots of ideas, and a number of very simple, straight-forward dishes. You'll use this one! It won't sit on the shelf collecting dust.

Bound To be A Classic Cookbook
Her interest in providing a modern classic cookbook, basing it on timeless favorites updated sometimes, and some candidates she puts forward as classic contenders is a winner!

A fan of this "down under" chef, this is her best to date. With sections on soups, salads, veggies, roasts and simmers, rice, pasta and noodles, pies and tarts ... there is just a wealth of heavenly food in here.

A new soup that I just had to try was a knockout: Lentil, lemon and yoghurt. There's also big spreads on just how to create some feature recipes,e.g Laksa, a spicy Singapore soup with shrimp paste and singapore spice is a hot, spicy number many will enjoy.

One presentation of a fav dish of mine is Shank Pies, made with lamb shank in a small ramekin, pot pie style. Great idea! This is a show stopper at the table, and not that hard for many to prepare.

This exceptional collection is in nice to use large format with excellent photography by con poulous. This is a definite candidate for giving and/or putting on your cookbook shelf.

A most for every women and MEN!
This is one of the best books that I've read. Rosaura describes the lives of Latin American women using a simple language. She uses sarcasm which adds fun to the reading, she describes women's lives since childhood to adulthood. This book will remind women of their greatness!

Receiving Prosperity: How to Attract Wealth, Success and Love into Your Life!
Published in Audio Cassette by Hay House, Inc. (May, 1994)
Author: Louise L. Hay
Average review score:

live lecture tape also
This is a good affirmation tape but it does not specify anywhere that part of it was a tape of a live lecture that the author did, so you hear participants questions. The way Louise handles the questions is of value however, so it is not a bad tape, just not a straight 'affirmation' tape, like some of her others.

Best self help, peace-toward-prosperty tape out there.
I was so moved and so appreciative of Ms. Hay's tape that I thought I'd check out customer reviews. There were none and this is really a shame and surprise. Poor marketing, I suppose. And I see this tape can now be purchased for $7.00! I have a shelf full of positive thinking tapes. This one is so good I've sent it to my friends and family. The only negative is that a lot of the tape is devoted to personal testimonials, but they're o.k. and you'll definitely see yourself in at least one of them. Great. A shame it's so poorly marketed. The Best.

The Soccer Mystery
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (October, 1999)
Authors: Gertrude Chandler Warner, Irene Smalls, Michael Hays, and Arene Smalls
Average review score:

Overall, this was a good book
This book was about the Aldens and Soo Lee playing on a soccer team. Like a usual Boxcar book, mysterious things start to happen. This was a pretty good book, but it could have had a better ending, that's why I only gave this chapter book 4 stars. By the way, this book has 116 pages, but it has fairly big print.

The Soccer Mystery Review
I read The Soccer Mystery. I thought this book was really great because I really like soccer and mysteries, and I've never read a book from The Box Car Children. I recommend that kids under 7th grade should read this book because this is a really great book! If you read this book you will probably enjoy it!

Lady of Hay
Published in Paperback by Dell Pub Co (May, 1988)
Author: Barbara Erskine
Average review score:

I enjoyed it
Like the other reviewer said earlier, had I not recently read Diana Gabaldon's Outlander Series, this book would have been much more enjoyable to me. But Outlander is definitely better. I came across this book while I am waiting impatiently for DG's fifth book in her series. I usually not quite like recarnation stories, but this book is very interesting and I couldnt put it down, I finished in One day!! Jo is a 20th century free lance writer whose previous life was Matilda 800 years ago, 3 men loved her back then and followed her into 20th century as well, Jo was trying to figure out what indeed happened in the past and what she can do to right the wrong in the present, and as for the men in her life now, she tries to sort out which is which from the past, I thought I figoured it out myself soon , but was I wrong!

The only thing I dont quite like about the story is there weren't enough said about the relationship between Matilda and the one she was destinated to be with, why did he punish her so hard if he really loved her?? I dont quite understand that.. Otherwise the book is very enjoyable, I recemend it!

Timeslip Romance
Hardened journalist, Jo Clifford is working on an investigative piece to debunk reincarnation and regression hypnosis.

There's only one problem, the fact that once she agrees to be hypnotised in order to try and be fair, she has very realistic images of a woman from the Middle Ages, Matilda, Lady of Hay.

Is Jo really the reincarnation of someone who lived hundreds of years ago? Or is she just remembering some facts that she had forgotten from long ago history lessons?

Flitting between Jo's modern life and Matilda's past life, the book is a real page turner, keeping you guessing until the very end. The regression is handled quite well and as you finish the book, you do begin to wonder if reincarnation is such a far fetched idea after all.

Barbara Erskine has the talent to weave a spell with words, you just have to finish the books once started.

WoW, a Blast From the Past
What wonderful news to see a classsic book make a reappearance. Who can we thank for such insight? LADY OF HAY is classic past lives/reincarnation, certainly a step up from current time travel . This is where it all started influencing authors such as Jeanette Baker and Jude Deveraux. LADY OF HAY was a wonderful read when it first came out and is now a classic in its own right, sure to help a whole new generation of readers discover this exceptional author. The concept of writing two storylines in two seperate time periods with each effortlessly interwoven with the other is only possible because of the exceptional writing talent of Ms Erskine. If you are reader who devours all sorts of the paranormal historicals and historical romances this one should be an automatic buy, because this is where is all began. This is not time travel this is reincarnation and no one does it better than Barbara Erskine. Jody Allen, Charter member-RIO Reviewers International Organization

Pollen
Published in Hardcover by Acacia Press, Inc. (February, 1996)
Author: Jeff Noon
Average review score:

No Vurt but Nothing to Sneeze At Either!
I would have hated to have been Jeff Noon confronted with the task of following-up Vurt. How do you write a book that'll grab the interest of the legions of fans you found with Vurt but not rehash the Vurt story? Pollen is the answer. Set again in Manchester (now on my must-see list when I next travel to Britain, solely due to Noon's novels), Pollen tells a strange, seductive tale of genetic engineering gone very awry, where man, dog and plant all begin to merge and ghost-cops chase and dead things hitch rides in netherzones and it all makes wonderful nonsense. Noon is really the Lewis Carroll of our time--and for that reason alone, he is very worth reading. Vurt first, then Pollen, then Needle in the Groove. A trip very worth taking.

pollen drifts
I read Vurt and loved it and then made a beeline for Pollen, which I loved for a while but then I got tired of it. I think it lost my attention & I stopped reading 30 pages from the end. Jeff Noon is a master at repurposing pop (Sweet Wanita?) andz got an imagination like no one else writing today, its too bad the book fell apart

Brazil's Thoughts
AH...This is the book that changed minds. Many people who loved Vurt were disapointed by Pollen. I for one find it hard to choose which is better. To me they are impossible to compare. They have a different veiw on the world of Vurt. One from a Flyer (a vurt person like Scrib) one from a DoDo (a non-Flyer). For those who don't like it, I am sorry. For those who have yet to read it, go into it with an open mind, don't expect another Vurt. Jeff Noon was wise to change the view points, after all, who wants to read the same book but with different words? Now and then it isn't too bad, but one risks the chance of ruining the orriginal concept. I say, READ THIS BOOK, take a chance, you have nothing to loose and have everything to gain. Keep in mind the old exchange rate, if you don't put in much, you can't get much out. So put in as much as you can so you will get the maximum enjoyment out of this book. So keep up the Reading. Enjoy! -BRAZIL Vista, CA
